Climate Action Plan

At Ocean Orchestra we put the wellbeing of the world’s marine environments at the heart of every decision we make. That commitment to the climate extends to how we run our business.

We are a small team working to bring efficiency and transparency to the seafood industry. Our emissions arise primarily from employee travel, cloud services and digital operations. We have a modest direct footprint, and we have chosen goals that reflect where we can make the most meaningful difference.

Our Approach

We are committed to supporting the global ambition to limit warming to 1.5°C in line with the Paris Agreement, and to being transparent about our progress.

We have focused on the areas most material to a business like ours: how and where our team works, the infrastructure and tools we use to build and run our platform, and the choices we make as we grow.

Our 2030 Commitments

  • Measure our carbon footprint

Using tools provided by the SME Climate Hub, we will measure our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and develop clear reduction goals based on what we find.

  • Hybrid working as an environmental choice

Our hybrid model is a deliberate decision to reduce commuting emissions, lower office energy use and minimise unnecessary business travel.

  • Sustainable digital practices

We will develop clear guidelines covering how our team works remotely, the cloud infrastructure we use, and the environmental considerations we apply as the platform scales.

  • Responsible AI

As builders of an AI-powered platform, we recognise that AI carries its own energy footprint. We are committed to using and developing AI efficiently, and to making this a standing part of how we build our product.

  • Responsible business travel

We will always consider whether business travel is necessary, or if it can be covered virtually. Where travel is necessary, we will use lower-carbon travel wherever possible.

  • Environmental considerations in business planning

Environmental impact will be a standing consideration in our decisions, from the suppliers and infrastructure we choose to the way we develop and scale our platform.

  • Publish our progress openly We will review and publish this plan annually, reporting honestly on where we have made progress and where there are gaps.

What We Have Done So Far

This work is in its early stages. These are the steps we have taken so far.

  • We have measured our Scope 1, 2 and partial Scope 3 emissions through the SME Climate Hub.

  • We have created Responsible AI and Virtual Office Stewardship policies and added them to our employee handbook.

  • We have introduced a hybrid working model, and our co-working space has disclosed its Scope 2 emissions.
